Putnam County Jail gets healthcare accreditation

CARMEL – The Putnam County Correctional Facility, in partnership with its medical provider, Primecare, Inc., has received a certificate of accreditation from the National Commission of Correctional Health Care.

Sheriff Robert Langley, Jr. said the jail service was cited for its compliance with the national commission’s Standards for Health Services in Jails.

“Being ‘accredited’ demonstrates that our correctional facility meets or exceeds national standards and best practices in providing medical, dental and mental health care to the facility’s inmates, which, in turn can lead to a reduced health risk to the community once inmates are released,” the sheriff said
