Warwick man pleads guilty to sexually abusing child

GOSHEN – A Warwick man pled guilty in Orange County Court on Thursday to felony course of sexual conduct against a child.

Douglas Castro, 64, admitted that between September 2012 and June 2014 he repeatedly engaged in acts of oral sexual conduct and other acts of sexual contact with a child who was less than 13 years old.

According to a plea agreement, Castro will 12 years in state prison and 20 years of post-release supervision when he is sentenced by to County Court Judge Robert Freehill in August. He will also be required to register as a sex offender.

District Attorney David Hoovler credited the Orange County Child Abuse Investigation with investigating the case and the arrest of Castro.

“Children are the most innocent of victims,” Hoovler said. “We can only hope that there are no long-lasting physical effects which will be suffered by the victim in this case.”
