Pulling a plane, the ‘ultimate tug of war’

STEWART AIRPORT – It’s a first in the Hudson Valley. United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region will hold “the ultimate tug of war” when teams will pull a giant FedEx airplane. It’s all about fundraising and it will take place on Saturday, June 29 at New York Stewart International Airport.

Teams of 20 each will sign up, secure pledges and hold onto the rope, said United Way Senior Director of Marketing and Communications Emily Darrow.

“The people who win are going to pull it the fastest those 12 feet, but I think anyone is a winner because how many people can say I pulled a plane, not just a little plane, a 757,” Darrow said.

Anyone can sign up to pull the plane on a Stewart runway at www.uwdor.org/pulltheplane.
