Bridges to be replaced on Bruzgul Road in Union Vale

POUGHKEEPSIE – Two bridges on Bruzgul Road in the Town of Union Vale will be replaced because of structural deterioration and the Dutchess County Department of Public Works will begin replacement work on bridges U-27 and U-28 shortly.

Project work will involve demolition of the current bridges and building new, wider ones, and widening of the road in between to accommodate the addition of shoulders and improve the safety of the roadway.

Bruzgul Road will be closed on or about Monday, May 20, about three-tenths of a mile west of the Clove Valley Road intersection with posted detour signage.

Work is expected to be completed with traffic reopened by December with final site restoration in spring 2020.

The total project cost is about $2.5 million, which includes construction and inspection services. The road averages about 1,900 vehicles per day.

County Executive Marcus Molinaro said the count is “committed to building for our future and continue to invest wisely in our county’s bridge and highway infrastructure.”
