Natural gas pipeline replacement in Poughkeepsie-Arlington area

POUGHKEEPSIE – Central Hudson is replacing pipelines nearing the end of their useful life in the Arlington area of the Town of Poughkeepsie.

The original lines were installed in the 1930s or earlier when gas service was first introduced. They are comprised of cast iron and unprotected steel.

Some 11,500 feet of gas lines will be replaced in the Arlington area over a six-month period with new polyethylene pipe, which is highly durable material and less susceptible to environmental concerns.

Replacement activities will take place from the spring through late summer along the following streets:

  • Fulton Ave., between S. Grand Ave. and Raymond Ave.
  • Fulton Ct.
  • Raymond Ave., between Fulton Ave. and Main St.
  • Main St., between N. Grand Ave. and Dutchess Tpke.
  • Grubb St., east of S. Grand Ave.
  • Streit Ave.
  • Lewis Ave.
  • Van Wagner Rd., between Raymond Ave. Ext .and Main St.
  • Fowler Ave.
  • Haight Ave., between Raymond Ave. and Fairmont Ave.
  • Davis Ave.
  • Lagrange Ave.
  • Collegeview Ave.
